Code of Conduct
(Grades 5-8)
I. Violations of the code:
Use, purchase, or possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia, alcohol, tobacco products, or look-a-like. Use of prescription and over-the-counter drugs and inhalants for other that their inte
nded purpose.Being present at a bar, unless accompanied by your own parent, or legal guardian.

If an athlete is in a situation or gathering in which people around him/her are using or possessing alcohol or drugs, the athlete must vacate the situation or gathering.Conduct that would bring discredit to the participant, parents, or football program. Such conduct may include, but not be limited to, eject
ion by an umpire, theft, vandalism, throwing of helmets and equipment and unsportsman like conduct (ie. Obscene gestures, profanity).The sale or distribution of drugs or alcohol, or look-a-likes shall result in the immediate suspension from the football
program for one calendar year from the date of the infraction.Curfew violations – it is suggested that coaches establish curfews for overnight trips and tournaments.
II. Penalties for violating the code:
First Offense – Suspension for one game to be ser
ved immediately if offense is witnessed by a football coach. Suspended player must be in attendance at the game in which the penalty is served. If suspension could result in a possible forfeit for the team, the suspension may be delayed until the next game. If the suspension involves several players, the suspensions will be served in alphabetical order.Second Offense – Suspension for two games to be served immediately if witnessed by a football coach. Suspended player must be in attendance at the game
in which the penalty is served.Third Offense – Suspension for one calendar year to be served immediately if witnessed by a football coach.
III. Procedure for dealing with violations:
All code violations must be reported immediately by the player’s coac
h to both the Oconomowoc Recreation Department Director and the player’s parents.The Oconomowoc High School Activities Director must also be notified of the player’ s suspension as the Oconomowoc Secondary Schools Activities Code also governs players (Gra
de 7-12).Requests for an appeal from the parent or legal guardian in cases involving violations must be submitted to the Oconomowoc Recreation Department Director or her designated appointee by the end of the next business day.
If an appeal has been fil
ed in a timely manner, an appeals committee will review the situation. The appeals committee shall include the Oconomowoc Recreation Department Director and three members of the Board of Directors of the Oconomowoc Parents for Football organization. The Appeals Committee has the ability to interpret the code of conduct.IV. Conduct of coaches:
All football coaches in the Oconomowoc Recreation Department program are expected to model the behaviors expected of all participating players. Complaints regardin
